Everything.

An excerpt from Joshua Beckman. I don't know the title of this poem, or it doesn't have one. Found in American Hybrid (Norton 2009):
The flesh. In time you will learn to look
at everything. In time you will learn to
touch everything. In time you will learn
to clothe everything. In time you will
learn to eat everything. In time you will
learn to say of everything that it has
been seen, that it has been touched, that
it has been killed, that it has been eaten.
Bloodied are our hours, in reflection,
the knuckle and the finger and the paper.
The shoulder. At dusk I did slip from the town,
the baby under my wing. Now to the water,
where what I have done will be reflected on later.
